Thanks for all the suggestions on this problem. Peter's advice and pointers
to the slipstream process did the trick. I was able to create a SP2 setup
boot CD using slipstream and get my system drivers updated enough that I
could install the new mobo drivers. All is working now and life is again
good!

I have a computer on which I have been running XP Pro for many years. The
system was upgraded from a previous windows using the original XP Pro Upgrade
CD. The installed system was upgraded using Internet download patches to SP2
long ago. I have installed a newer mother board in the machine and the
installed windows will not boot because of lack of drivers for the new MB.
When I attmept to re-install from the original CD, booting setup from the
original CD also fails because it is pre-SP2 (or SP1) and will not start with
the newer chipset on the MB.
I downloaded the SP2 setup from MS and created boot floppies. That version
will run setup to the point of needing the CD. It will not accept my CD
because it is not a SP2 CD.
So, my question is since I have a valid license for XP Pro on this machine,
is there any way I can get a SP2 setup CD that will install on the new MB?
Or do I have to purchase a complete new copy of XP Pro and spend even more $
on this computer?
