Thanks Ian!You are looking for Symnrt on Symantec's site. I must caution you though
I am a newbie--I looked on the Symantec site, but couldn't seem to locate
the tool...do you happen to have a link for it? Do you know if this works
for other programs too? I had Avast32, which I uninstalled, but there's
still
registry stuff there AND Lavasoft Ad-Aware Personal Build 6.1.
I disabled Norton antivirus 2005 -- wouldn't setip... I then uninstalled
Norton thinking it would do the trick, but Windows XP setup is still
stumbling on something.
Thanks again!
G
that
Symantec does not make this file easy to find. You run this program after
Install/Remove fails to remove the software. Even so, there may be
remanants
left laying around.
This program only removes Symantec programs; that is quite enough of a
problem as it is.
Danglin registry entries are usually only a problem in the eyes of the
beholder.
Jim
Thanks!

There is a tool available from Symantec to clean old installations off.
HST, NAV is the cyber-equivalent of a dose of the clap; you can never be
sure you've completely gotten rid of it. In many ways it' s better to
start
with a fresh installation of Windows.
Which one reason why it's totally unacceptable that it's preinstalled
onto
so many new computers, especially as many computers don't come with a
Windows CD either, OR with a means of restoring the computer to GENUINE
Windows - as Microsoft requires of OEMs.
If you do go for a reinstall, remember to backup your userprofile, and
download any hardware-drivers you are likely to need first.
