Hi Ron,
XP is still available for sale at CompUSA (at least it was as of about 2 minutes ago...you never know)...check this page:

Is it different in Canada?

I need to upgrade Home to Pro (domain network reasons) but not sure on the
best approach as I don't want to lose all the programs and documents that

1. is there an upgrade disc and where do you get it?
2. shove in a new xp pro disc and do some sort of upgrade from that?
Thanks for any pointers
You need to purchase a Retail Upgrade version of XP Pro and install
it.
Because Microsoft is no longer supplying Windows XP to the retail
market it may be difficult to find it except on eBay. And you need
to be careful when purchasing software on eBay as there are so many
counterfeit copies being sold there. Also most of the XP sold there
is OEM rather than retail. OEM versions will not install as an
upgrade.
If you do purchase XP Pro Upgrade on eBay you may end up with an older
copy that does not have Service Pack 2 included with it. If that
happens then you will need to create a new Windows XP installation CD
that includes SP2. This can be done quite easily by slipstreaming:

Good luck
