Install XP Pro on Compaq Notebook SATA

Hi
one of my clients bought a couple of compaq presario notebooks C310EA
without consulting us first and go one with a copy of Media Centre -
it wont attach to the company domain.
we cant upgrade it with an XP pro upgrade disk - it;s not a supported
upgrade according to microsoft.
we've tried installing a new version using the compaq sata ahci driver
from compaq web site.
we press F6 to install additional driver - the iastor.sys driver is
loaded but later on in the installation the request for an "Intel
Matrix Storage Manager Driver" in drive a: appears
the orgional driver disk either isn't recognised or doesnt have that
driver on it.
compaq wont talk to us becasue it's a home computer and should be
running home software
microsoft wont talk to us because it's a 3rd party driver.
i'd really appreciate some suggestions. other than "tell your client
to check the spec first."
thanks
Murray Stewart
