Re: XP Pro 64-bit will not install with the Adaptec 39320A HostRai

I would initially try an in depth memory test www.memtest.org create the
bootable floppy

Are you trying one of the updated winxp 64 hostraid drivers, as available on
adaptec site?
Have you flashed the card firmware update?

I doubt a format is being done if it takes 3 secs

As I understand it, from my Adaptec use, you get free email support if the
card is registered, however I would see this more as a winxp installation
issue

Its a Adaptec 39320A-R card, and the E-Mail support is like $88 per
incident,
Id rather just go buy a LSI card or something if im going to have to pay
for support, when the problem is with there drivers.

What is the card?
Adaptec has email support, which is reasonably good

This is my first full 64-bit desktop system that I have just built.
Full
componet list will be at the end of this question. I have 2 Ultra 320
HD's
and I set those up in the HostRaid bios as a Raid-0. I then setup the
bios
to
boot off the CD, and use the "F6" option to load the Adaptec HostRaid
drivers
for my SCSI card. I select the Array in the setup and have the setup
partition and format the array. After the format is done, witch for
some
reason only takes like 3 secs on a 80gig array, setup trys to copy
files
to
the array, it first trys to copy the adaptec drivers from the floppy,
and
then like 10secs later I get this message:

"The disk or CD you inserted may be damaged. Press ENTER to try again.
Make
sure you are using the correct disk or CD. If you continue seeing this
message, use a different copy of the disk or CD."

I try another floppy disk and I get the same result. So thinking its
the
floppy drive I switch to a new floppy drive and again the same error
above.

Next I search the Adaptec knowlegebase and the only thing I find about
this
error is this, about a memory resource problem with some motherboards:

http://adaptec-tic.adaptec.com/cgi-bin/adaptec_tic.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4068&p_created=1029746469&p_sid=q-lSmEri&p_lva=4068&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MSZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9dGhlIGRpc2sgb3IgY2QgeW91IGluc2VydGVkIG15IGJlIGRhbWFnZWQ*&p_li=&p_topview=1

If anyone have any sugestions on this problem please leave a msg, I
hate
to
only be able to use XP Pro 32-bit on my 64-bit system.

Here is my componet list.
Motherboard: M2N32 WS Professional
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 Dual Core
Mem: G. Skill 2gig CL-5
SCSI Card: Adaptec 39320A-R
