Re: XP sp2 stopped after restarting during setup

Its extreamly unusual to have a PC that cannot be set to boot from the CD,
or for it not to have an option to enable boot from CD, I've never seen
such.
It is usually better to let the win installation handle
partitioning/formating rather than useing third party tools
Problems with copying files during a win installation are usually as a
result of faulty hardware/memory/cd drive/cd

The winxp cd is bootable so unless you have created a slipstreamed wincd I'm
not sure what instructions you are refering to, and if indeed you created a
slipstreamed CD then perhaps this process was faulty.

I've been trying to reinstall Win XP Home sp2 on a freshly-wiped and
repartitioned hdd. My computer (a built-to-order) would not allow me to
change boot drive, so I started the reinstall from the series of 6
floppies
downloaded from MS. The remainder of the setup was done (per on-screen
instructions) from the XP2 disk. My SP2 disk was created per instructions
provided by MS for making a bootable xp2 cd.

Several times during installation, the screen told me that a file could
not
be copied. In each case, I then inserted the original XP cd, and the
setup
program continued until prompting me for another missing file or asking
for
the xp2 cd. In a couple of cases, I had to search for the file on the
web,
and fed it into the drive on a burned cd. I made it through the entire
installation with only 2 files skipped, one a dll. (Why these files were
missing or could not be copied is a mystery, and very annoying.) When the
computer prompted for restart, I did so. At restart, I received a blue
screen containing the following message:
STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum} The image appHelp.dll is possibly
corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum.

If I do the whole installation again (which took hours), will I continue
to
get this message, or is this fixable?
