after another download of the iso image late last night, I was able to get
Nero express 6 to accept the image file.
hopefully it will burn successfully on completion.

copy cd or dvd to hard drive as ISO is indeed simple to do from Nero
express 5. Supposedly one can burn iso image from hard drive to dvd/cd
with Nero too via the "Disc Image or Save Project" option
However I got either file not accessible or if rename to nri, I get "not
supported something" message

I would like burn from an .ISO image file a bootable DVD with Xp pro
itself
or with Nero express 6.
without extracting the bootable iso image file. is it possible?
I don't have much disk space left and that is why I don't want to use
winimage/ other util to extract /convert
While this subject is way off-topic, yes you should be able to
copy your XP media with Nero. Fire up Nero Express, select the
desired disc writing mode from the upmost drop-down, that is
Image Recorder provides an ISO along with entries for each connected
burner, in either DVD burn mode and/or CD-R burn mode. Then
click Copy Entire Disc, on the panel beneath the drop down.
It's that simple....MR
PS: You can't diskcopy a CD-R onto a DVD-R. To do that, you'd
*have* to make an ISO of the CD, then burn that intermediate ISO
onto a DVD-R....
