Re: Repair with Different CD
No, your retail CD will not work with the OEM Product Key.
But if your intention is to leave the Retail version installed on the
computer, go ahead.
Some OEMs do not provide repair options other than a complete reinstallation
destroying all data in the process.
Be sure to check your manual and/or contact Sony for details and options.

Is it possible to do a repair of Windows XP using a different CD to the XP
that is installed on the PC? I have a Sony desktop that I am trying to
repair, however the Sony recovery CD does not give me any options other
than to wipe everything and start all over with the machine as it came out
of the factory.
I am almost 100% certain that a repair of XP will fix the problems I am
experiencing, I have another XP Home CD (Retail) so is it possible to use
this CD to run the repair? or will that screw up my Sony version of XP and
leave me with just as many problems as I started with.
Thanks.
