Into a Start \ Run dialog box the copy and paste the following line

Have you tried opening Windows Messnger, then clicking Tools, then Options, the Prefernces Tab and de-selecting "Run Windows Messenger when Windows Starts"?

I have unchecked Microsoft Messenger from the start up tab in msconfig yet everytime my machine starts, this program, Microsoft Messenger loads/runs. I don't want Microsoft Messenger running all the time but cannot stop it. Any advice? It isn't listed by that specific name in the Services area of msconfig either.
