Thanks I know sp2 is an add on. I have the cd not up-grade, brand
new. Have done all that several times. I think it must be a hardware
conflict cos it just gets to the 1 place and stops it just hangs
there no error messages or anything to help. Think i'll have to take
it to the shop fed up now but don't like being beaten.
Do not follow Andrfew E's advice, he is not sincerer and usually posts for
what ever agenda for his reason very damageing advice.

Thier is no xp SP2 as an OS,SP2 is an add on to xp.Try installing
the microsoft
xp cd with or w/o SP2,select in BIOS to boot to cd if needed (1st
boot device priority,or similiar),once at xp cd boot screen, select
install xp,delete
the partition,
create one, then xp formats and installs auto.If this is an upgrade
xp,you'll need
to briefly install an older windows OS cd for verification only-10
to 15 sec.
