Try new CD drive

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I had the exact same problem with upgrading to XP home edition.
It turns out my CD drive was a bit antiquated.
It was 8x (stop laughing)
and I tried a 52x cd drive and, no probs. I have encountered this problem
with other software.
This is my suggestion.

Best of Luck
