I recently reinstalled WinXP Home SP1 from the original CD. Everything works perfectly except I am running SP1. Today, I tried to use the Windows Update feature of WinXP and it doesn't work. Internet Explorer starts and freezes. So, I tried to do an update using Firefox. MS doesn't allow the usual update unless one is using IE. (But my IE is somehow broken when I try to use it for updates.) MS directs me to a download page where there is no Service Pack 2 update that I can find.
I would appreciate any help.
Link to download the entire SP2 as a single file (272MB) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=049C9DBE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en
