You could try backing up the WPA.DBL and WPA.BAK files on your hard
drive to a diskette or CD, and then replacing them after the format
and reinstall. But there is no guarantee that this will work as some
of the hardware items that are monitored for activation, such as the
volume/serial number of the hard drive, will have been changed.
Activation is not normally a big hassle, especially with a high speed
internet connection. Even on a dial-up system I have rarely had it
take more than 60 seconds from the time the computer starts to dial
the ISP.
