Problem reinstalling from XP CD
Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance
I have had major problems with my installation on my laptop (overheating,
many crashes etc - btw the overheating is not due to dust etc or the fan). I
decided to reformat and reinstall XP from the CD on bootup (kicks into setup)
however everytime you go through the windows setup routine it gets to the
same point (loads all the drivers then opens the windows setup screen then
immediately crashes the laptop. I know the CD is OK as I tried it on another
PC but I cannot seem to run setup on this one. fyi - Windows XP has been
runniing on the laptop for about 2 years and so it need a refresh anyway to
clear out the dros :). I have backed everything up and just want to reformat
and reinstall, I cannot find any thread that will help.
