You do have options..
#1.. If your system was not installed with a version of XP SP2, that is to
say, you installed SP2 after XP, as long as you kept the files to uninstall
it, you could actually uninstall SP2, upgrade your system to Pro, and then
re-install SP2.. this way could work flawlessly, then again, it may not..
#2.. You can create a slipstreamed XP Pro SP2 CD, and upgrade using the
newly created CD.. how to create such a CD?.. its here.. you may need to
read it more than once..

#3.. Purchase an XP Pro SP2 version..
But there is one statement in your post that gives rise to a question on my
part.. You say that "I've enjoyed XP Home all I can stand".. what are you
hoping to gain by upgrading to the Pro version?. take a look at this
website.. it details the difference between Home and Pro versions.. you may
find that you do not need any of the Pro features at all..
