Can't delete Hiberfil.sys

Running WindowsXP Professional.
Even though I have have my machine set for always on in the power dialog, I
still have a huge hiberfil.sys file.
Every re-boot it has the current boot time and date. I have been told that I
can perhaps delete it after booting into safe mode and using DOS command line
to delete it.
Anybody have a clue as to how to get rid of it? I need the disk space and do
not care for hibernation.
Thanks,
MN
