Adding a dual processor

I had to rebuild a dual processor system after a power spike blew out one of
my processors and the hard drive....anyways I just recieved the replacement
Athlon MP processor. My question is can I simply add the second processor
without reinstalling Windows XP Pro? Thanks for your help.
