I upgraded my processor from a 3.06GHz 533 MHz FSB to a 3.4GHz 800FSB Pentium
4. I was running on an Intel D865PERL mobo. However I did not first upgrade
the BIOS, therefore the system was unstable after the processor upgrade. I
thought that perhaps I should reinstall Windows XP (I had already installed
the Windows XP SP2 update). I then got errors that the image files on the
computer do not match those on the Windows XP cd. I then installed Windows XP
on another hard drive (EIDE drive) successfully and then flashed the new
BIOS. However I still get the same errors when trying to reinstall on the
SATA HD. I also cannot run the SATA HD at all as the default is to always
boot from a SATA HD and this apparently cannot be changed in the setup. I do
not want to lose my files on the SATA HD. How can I recover the files and get
the SATA HD operating again? Is there a boot CD to use if you have installed
the Windows XP2 SP on the drive...could that be the problem? Thank you for
any help!
