Hi Vic,

Could you please help me to verify if the exact error message is the same
as the below?

[Error number: 0x8DDD0002]

To install items from Windows Update, you must be logged on as an
administrator or a member of the Administrators group. If your computer is
connected to a network, network policy settings might also prevent you from
completing this
procedure.

Note You can "run as" the local administrator on your computer without
having to
log off and then log on again.

Have a nice day!

Thanks & Regards,

| Hi Feng,
|
| Yes the error was exactly the same before and after getting over the
| Administrator problem. It wasn't exactly a password problem as I was able
to
| log into my normal account and the Administrator account with my usual
| passwords. However, before creating a new account (with admin
privaledges)
| from Administrator account I was not able to change account privaledges
on
| my normal account, even with from the Administrator account. From the new
| account I could.
|
| With respect to the v5 update site, I cannot be sure until I go home to
the
| PC in question, but I do remember a v5 in the URL.
|
| I will take a further look this evening (I'm in the UK).
|
| Kind regards and thanks,
|
| Vic
