Presently I am running on a 3 year old Compaq Preario, USB 2 installed,
Windows ME., Lynksis Router and Firewall, Cable Internet (Comcast) Outlook
Express and Internet Explorer. "My Documents" is backed up to an External
Iomega 80 gig HD. A also have an external 256 mb Zip Drive.
A new Dell 2400 Desktop is in route and should arrive next week. It will
come with 512 Ram, Pentium 4, 80gi HD and Pre installed Windows XP Pro
I expect that the machine will boot OK .
I plan to reinstall my programs, such as Microsoft Office, etc. from
original CDs.
I expect the external Iomega USB 2 HD will be usable when I plug it into the
new computer. I thought I would just transfer "My Documents" from the
External HD ???
How do I transfer Outlook Express Address book and Mailboxes, etc?
Will the new Computer just pull the Comcast Cable Internet settings from my
Router?
How do I transfer Favorites from Internet Explorer.?
Should I go to Comp USA ahead of time to buy a transfer cable? Which one
Straight or Crossover?
Or does the router act as a network and I can see both computers? How do I
do set that up?
I just want to get organized ahead of time. Any help and hints would be
appreciated
Thanks
