HELP I"m suckin'!
I recently erased my hard drive due to virus problems. When I tried to
reload my WIN XP Pro that the computer had been running, The install went
painfully slow (about 14 hours). When the install got to the point where it
was 'registering components' (at about 17 minutes to go on the install), I
got the following window: Advanced INF Installer. INF install failure.
Reason: the handle is invalid. Clicking the "OK" button at the bottom of the
window made it go away, and the install completed (eventually). When it got
to the point where it started windows, I got the 'Welcome to MS windows,
thanks for purchasing, lets spend a few minutes setting up your computer"
window. Clicking "next" to continue caused the computer to lock right up.
Upon restarting, Windows wouldn't come up at all. All hardware and software
had been working fine before I erased my hard drive. What does this error
message mean, and how can I fix it ?
