Installing Windows XP Pro

I bought a new 80GB hard disk. I tried to set-up my
Windows XP Pro and notice the following:

1. When the screen "inspecting you computer's
configuration" shows ... it takes a long time before the
next screen appears - it takes more than 2 minutes.
2. After format and copying of files, it reboots but
always goes back to no.1 - seems like an endless loop.

My Desktop is a Pentium 4 and BIOS was checked.

Please help.
