Have you considered doing a scan and removing the infection instead of
reinstalling.

Always make sure the ICF (firewall) is enabled before connecting to the
internet.

As for your question on reactivation you can activate XP as many times as
needed, if it has been less then 120 days since the last activation then a 5
min. phone activation may be necessary.
Registration is not required, activation is.

OEM versions of software are permanently tied to the original computer,
motherboard & chipset installed on and are not transferable.
