Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Yes, I've tried just hitting return, but tht doesn't work. One question, though: how do I get to safe mode? When I go to the boot menu (F8 at startup), it merely prompts me for the boot device, without an option for safe mode. I thought this might be the result of never having logged on before, but it also might be because I've recently installed linux on a separate partition (which was the cause for the clean install of XP).
