windows XP Reinstallation

I recently got some spyware on my computer. so I desided to reinstall windows XP. well I put the reinstallation cd in while I was in windows. and did the install. and removed the old windows. well everything went well but. all my program files are gone from the start menu. and desktop. I can get to them by going to my computer and clicking on C:/ and then program files. but how do I get them back to the start menu? please help?
