Knoppix is a version of Linux that runs contained on a CD-
R and in your system's RAM. You should be able to boot
the system with this Knoppix CD-R and backup your data to

same drive you used to boot Knoppix) or copy your data
off to another PC on your network. I work in an
exclusively-Windows shop, but Knoppix has saved my *** a
few times and has been very convenient for data recovery
situations from laptops and desktop systems.
