Could someone please explain how I can permanently remove
the "search asistant" from the taskbar on my desktop.

I can click on toolbars, remove the tick against "search
assistant" but on signing back on again it reappears.
This "search" appears to have been dumped on my desktop
as a result of some spyware ? "blazefind" is the
suggested search engine.

Any help greatly appreciated.
