problems with xp pro

 i just purchased a new version of xp pro. i did an upgrade
download. it loaded everything just fine until it went to
reboot for the last time. it just keeps rebooting as it
gets ready to go to the windows screen. i have tried
booting through the disk and repairing to see if it helps.
same problem. i don't want to do a new install and loose
all my setting. could someone out there please help me.
