my understanding is that if you install Windows 2000 after Windows XP, you
will need to copy the NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM files from Windows XP back onto
your boot drive.
These files should be dropped in the root of your boot drive (the same
location that the boot.ini file is located - usually C:). You should be
able to do this from Windows 2000.
