Mapped drives and updates

After upgrading a Windows 98 PC on a 2K network
everything was fine. Authentication was good, login
script runs and drives are mapped. I left and the user
ran the automatic update. Now I can't get the users
account to do anything but log into the domain. The servr
will not allow access to the resources. As admin it works
but not the user. I have removed and reinstalled the user
account, removed the updates, and nada. The user can log
in from another WS and access the system (98). Come to
think of it, I have had this problem with another upgrade
in the same domain. Symptoms are extremely slow network
access and slow logins. The other system authenticates to
the local machine so the user can access the server. Any
ideas?

Thanks- Dan
