Spooler Subsysem App has crashed

I have a PC with Windows XP, a Brother 8000-series BW MFC laser that works
perfectly, and a HP Colour Laserjet 1600, that did work perfectly up until
yesterday. When I boot I now get 'Spooler Subsysem App' send error report
popups. I have attempted to disable DEP on spoolsv, which did not help.
Followed the steps provided here
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3ben-us%3bQ324757 as well
as uninstalling and installing the latest drivers.

If I have the HP unplugged, the Brother works fine. Does anyone know where I
can look from here?
