Do let us know if you come up with an actual XP Fax issue. As I said before, this is not likely to be an XP Fax issue since it has never been reported so far.

I may ahve solved the problem. There was a lurking Brother (Long gone Brother Laser printer) Print Spool Driver being called for in Services and the Intel Quick Resume had something to do with it also.

Uninstalling XP Fax Services cures the problem.

"Rich" <Rich_NoSpam@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23$HNt$0iIHA.6136@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI have a strange problem with XP Fax Services. I am using a Dell XPS410 with XP MCE SP2 with all security and Hot Fixes up to date.
I can successfully install Fax Services, configure and use it. I can send Faxes with no problems. I can send Faxes from MS Word.
However, after re-booting the computer for the first time after the install certain Processes will hang for several minutes before functioning. Things like IE 6 and Add/Remove Windows Components will just sit there doing nothing.
Process Explorer shows no activity except for System Idle Process. When what ever is hanging is finished you see changes in the Processes in Process Explorer and everything is then normal. I looked at the Event Viewer logs and there are several Error and Warning events listed.
I tried fiddling with the Fax Services configuration but this doesn't make a difference. I tried disabling Trend Micro I.S.
Any ideas?
Rich
