Your help put me on the right track and I thank you for that. I hope my experience will help others see that not all software is intuitive and need better instructions to produce the desired results.

By default, faxes are stored as multi-page TIF files. Assuming that you're using the default viewer (Windows Picture and Fax Viewer) you may well be clicking on the wrong button (many do). Do NOT use the blue buttons at the left that look like |< and >|. Use the buttons in the middle, on either side of the page number. Alternatively, click on the downward pointing arrow immediately to the right of the page number and you can select which page you want to jump to.
