Do you have a local printer with a Local Port in the form \\xp\x1185 or you
have a network connection in the form Lexmark X1185 on XP?
On the Vista machine print a document to File. Now open a command window
and copy the file to the print share
copy printfilename \\xp\x1185
is there output?

I have a XP Home SP 2 computer with a X1185 print attached. This is on a
LAN with my Vista Business computer. I can see the XP machine in the my
network from the Vista machine. I can see the printer X1185 on the XP.
On
the Vista machine I can install a network attached printer \\XP\X1185. I
can
even print to the network attached printer on the Vista machine.
BUT that is were it stalls. The print file sits there in the display of
the Vista computer as ready to print. The print spool on the XP machine
shows nothing. I have deinstalled the printer from the Vista serveral
times, with no change. I have downloaded the latest driver for the
printer
for Vista. I have check and there is no newer driver for XP.
I am very ignorant of network stuff so any answer I get would be great if
you can keep it simple for me!
