Re: Printer sharing with MS network

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I have two desktops connected through a Linksys router (wired).
I have run the network setup wizard on both computers with no error messages.
The printer (Epson Stylus 860) is connected to one computer(A) by a USB cable.
I went through the process on the computer the printer is connected to to allow this printer to be shared. I believe this worked ok as well since there were no error messages and it was assigned Printer2 as the share name.
Then I went to the second computer and attempted to add the printer.
When the wizard browses for the printer it shows microsoft network in the window but no printers.
I have tried typing in the printer share name and the computer name (for the computer to which the printer is connected) along with the printer share name with no luck.
I have run out of ideas.

Do you have any firewalls other than Windows Firewall installed, including Norton Antivirus? If you are not absolutely positive that you have no other firewalls, open Task Manager and review all of the running processes (not "applications") to make sure.

Can you share any files between the 2 computers? Do you have XP Home or Pro or MCE (on each computer)?
