Re: delete printer

Yes you will need to get the HP driver installed before you can send
anything to the device. HP should be able to determine what the issue is
regarding the driver installation. I assume you downloaded the XP driver.

Alan, thanks for your response. I stated my goal incorrectly. My network
currently exists with myiMac having a wireless connectionand the printer
plugged-in to the router. So, to restte my "ultimate goal", I want to
setup
my PC so I can use the network printer.

In regards tomy problem, I have gotten past my last problem. I found out
how to delete the IP port, and was able to re-add the IP port. That
allowed
me to get to the point of re-adding the printer. Unfortunately, the list
of
printers does not include mine (HP Officejet 6210xi). I updated the list
with a download from HP of software and drivers, but it didn't find a
match;
however, it allowed me to continue anywayeven though that doing so could
cause future printer problems. After continuing, it could not find one of
the drivers "hpzinc09.dll". How dio I get the printer installed.

However, if I solve this problem I have no guarntee it will allow me to
print to my network printer.

I hope this clears-up my problem.

Add Printer, Local Printer, Use the following port: (select the port

You can also create a port and change the name so it does not duplicated
the
previous port name.

Ultimately I'm trying to setup my windows xp printer to a network. In
doing
so I deleted my HP printer from the PC . I went to the "Printer and
Faxes"
screen and clicked Add printer". The "add Printer Wizard" is
displayed.
I
click Local Printer attached . . . ", I leave "Automatically detected
and
install my plug-and-play printer" blank and click "next". I say I want
to
"create a new port"and input "standard tcp/ip port" and click Next".
This
brings up the Add Standard TPC/IP Port Wizard. I click :next" and
input
the
generic 10.0.1.1 and click "next". It gives me the "error" saying "a
port
with that name already exists". Since I've done this several times
before
I
know it already exists, but because of this I can't create the new port
and
the printer doesn't get installed(ie: show-up on the Printer and Faxes
screen. What do I have to do to get the printer installed on that IP
port.
I'm a little frustrated since I've been trying to get my PC to print on
the
network for about 2 weeks!
