Add Printer, Local Printer, Use the following port: (select the port you
previously created rather than create a new port).
You can also create a port and change the name so it does not duplicated the
previous port name.

Ultimately I'm trying to setup my windows xp printer to a network. In
doing
so I deleted my HP printer from the PC . I went to the "Printer and
Faxes"
screen and clicked Add printer". The "add Printer Wizard" is displayed.
I
click Local Printer attached . . . ", I leave "Automatically detected and
install my plug-and-play printer" blank and click "next". I say I want to
"create a new port"and input "standard tcp/ip port" and click Next". This
brings up the Add Standard TPC/IP Port Wizard. I click :next" and input
the
generic 10.0.1.1 and click "next". It gives me the "error" saying "a port
with that name already exists". Since I've done this several times before
I
know it already exists, but because of this I can't create the new port
and
the printer doesn't get installed(ie: show-up on the Printer and Faxes
screen. What do I have to do to get the printer installed on that IP
port.
I'm a little frustrated since I've been trying to get my PC to print on
the
network for about 2 weeks!
