I have installed a Generic/Text printer in XP SP2. The port is File.
When I print to this printer I am prompted for a file name. I want to
permanently set the file name and not be prompted. IIRC this can be
done with a registry entry that specifies the file name but I have no
idea what registry entry is required. Can anyone tell me how to set a
static file name form the File port? Thanks.

I have seen issues when the LPT ports are no longer listed by the spooler ... because another application replaced the registry entry for the dll ... controlling where to look in the registry for the port list....
