This sounds like the same issue the explorer process can get into after
restarting the spooler. Most likely the notification channel opened by the
application is not longer valid since it is waiting for notifications from a
service that is no longer running (it's pointing to the previous instance of
the spooler that is not there any longer). Restart the cash register
application after starting the spooler. Or reboot.

I used the resolution given on the support web site of Microsoft. My
printers work like they should. I have a cash register drawer that is
triggered when the printer is given a signal to print. All worked fine
until
the above error message. Once I followed the directons in the resolution
the
cash drawer is no longer getting the signal. How can I determine the
changes
that need to made to the register or anywhere else to make this cash
drawer
work again?
