Re: Dropped files?

When you connect a USB device to the USB port, do you hear the connection
'ding'?

Many thanks for the response, the message advises me the printer cannot be
found and do I have the accompanying software cd (which does not
completely
load) or should a seacrh be made on the Internet. Regardless of the
hardware
the same message will come on screen. Were I to uninstall the softaware
for
the presnet and operating digital camera and then attempt to re-install
exactly the same would happen.
A fresh viewpoint is always welcome.

A newcomer finding his way.

I got a Lexmark 8350 several weeks ago and attempted to install
it.

I already a Lexmark 5150 but decided to upgrade, this was working
perfectly alright.

All the software for the 8350 did not load; I was also advised a
printer
could not be found.

I believed there might have been a conflict between new and present
printer
so I uninstalled the present printer - bad mistake.

I now find should I attempt to install any hardware i.e. digital camera
or
re-install the old printer it will not do so.

Installation reaches the 3rd stage when the software is being loaded
but
Windows sound effect cuts in and it stops.

Has anyone had a similar problem and is it possible my 'feeling' is a
few files have dropped and Windows needs reloading?

A nightmare prospect.

Both printers work, a new software cd was obtained for new printer and
I
changed the USB cable

Windows XP home
Service pack 2
Dell 2400 series

Any help would be most appreciated
