Re: IrDA printing Connectivity Problem

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Go into BIOS on the laptop. IRDA may have choices as to the protocol used
for IRDA. It may be that the later Cannon driver sets this protocol, and the
earlier one depends on the proper BIOS setting. (Only Cannon knows!) I had
all sorts of trouble with a Nokia Cell phone and IRDA until I changed the
IRDA mode in BIOS.
The fact that it worked at all makes me wonder about the quality of the
Nokia software and driver for a multicountry multi standard cell phone.
There is a remote possibility that a windows "update" may be needed or
involved. Since you have a "new" laptop, I doubt that it would apply.

I'm having a problem similar - trying to run a Canon BJC50 on the infrared
thru a Win XP laptop - other Win XP laptops can run this same Canon 50,
this
laptop can run the 80, but not the 50 - what's the difference

As the title says. I have been using a Canon printer with my laptop
using
a
cable. I have recently got a new laptop which only has USB ports which
are
uncompatible with my printer cable. I have tried an adaptor which
didn't
work
as Canon said it probably wouldn't & they cannot supply a suitable
cable.
The
printer is apparantly enabled with IrDA. My laptop runs XP, do I need
to
install / download anything to make these devices compatable.

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks
