Re: Re: System Error when using HP PSC1215 Printer

I too am having the same problem with my psc1215. It always gives the
very unhelpful "System error" message with no further information
when trying to print; but it scans without any problem !

I think the problem could be because I did not install it properly - I
plugged it in before running the install disk (this is an install on a
second computer, so I did not have the install poster with me).

Anyway, I have tried uninstalling and re-installing several times with
no luck, but I was wonderring how critical the disconnecting of the
printer when uninstalling is. Does it have to be physically
unplugged, or is it good enough to just turn it off on the printer
(not mains) ?

Any help on this problem generally would be much appreciated, as we
are currently without a printer because of this.

TIA

John

Yes, the printer was disconnected from the PC before removal
of the software,
in fact the software prompts you to remove it as part of the
removal process.

The only change I can think of was the addition of the
Logitech Webcam
however I have since tried disconnecting that and uninstalling
it's software
followed by uninstalling and re-installing the HP software;
all with no
success.

When HP had you reinstall, I take it they did have you
disconnect the

What other changes have you made to the PC since it worked
correctly?

It simply states 'The document cannot be printed due to a
sysyem error.,
restart Windows and try again.' There are no error codes.

Can you post the exact text of the error message?

Hi,

I installed an HP PSC1215 printer last year and it
worked fine for a
number
of months. My OS is XP SP2. The only additional
hardware to be
installed
since is a Logitech Web Cam.

Not sure if the printer stopped working immediately
following
installation
of the Web Cam (I can't remember!) however now whenever
I try to print
a
document I get an error message pop-up stating that
there is a System
Error.

I spent hours on the phone to the HP support line and
they have been
unable
to cure the problem. They tried completely cleaning my
registry
(manually)
of all HP entries then re-installing the Drivers clean.
They also ran
a
scan
on the OS however this revealed no problems. They
finally staed that
it
must
be a corrupt file within the OS (in other words they
don't know and
have
given up!) and so I have a relatively new printer that
I can't use.
Has
anybody else experienced this problem or is anybody
clever enough to
sort
this one out. Help!
