Re: Network Printing using IPv6

That support was not added until Vista. It's coming, hang in there.

Alan,

Thank you, but no, this is a network in the early starges of transition
and
there is no IPV6 compatible DNS nor DHCPv6 server. Present activity is to
qualify a printer for future use over IPv6.

Are you suggesting that a literal IPV6 address cannot be used in the port
setup?
Thanks. WW

Does the device have a hostname? try that instead.

I have established IPv6 connectivity between printer and PC (XP Pro) on
simple network using PING and LPQ from Command Prompt. But how do I get
Port
Monitor to access printer via IPv6 address? I can enter IPv6 address
into
Port Monitor via Printer/Properties/Ports/configure port/Printer name
or
IP
address sequence, but I cannot enter scope. With just IPv6 address, the
port
monitor does not output anything to ethernet.

How does one set up PC to send print to IPv6 address?

Thaks for any suggestons.
