Re: Printers won´t install

Localspl.dll is part of windows, itself and is part of the spooler software
necessary to operate printers. No surprise there.

It is found in the Windows dorectory, system32 sub-directory. Try doing a
search on the file name.

I have an ASUS nA8N-E mother board in use with Windows XP 64 bit as the
usual operating system. There are local and network printers installed which
operate correctly.

I'm sorry to say, I do not know what is causing your problems. However, I
still suspect the printer driver. More information about the printer's make
and model, the source of the driver would be useful. Forgive me asking if
you are sure it is a 64 bit driver.

Indeed, it would be useful to know if the printer installs properly under
LINUX.

Clean install of Windows. It doesn´t have drivers for my printer.
When I start isntalling drivers by pressing add printer, spooler goes
offline. I have never even got to the part where I choose what printer or
drivers I use. Spooler shuts down instantly after pressing add printer. So
printer drivers has nothing to do with this.

I tryed other XPx64 cd and it didthe same thing, during clean new install
of
Windows, it said localspl.dll cannot be be found. And after install
completed I tryed to add a printer and result was again the same, Spooler
goes offline right after pressing add printer. So again please NOTE this
is
clean install, no previous printer drivers, printer isn´t plugged in.
Localspl.dll doesn´t exist, yet it is in the cd´s as packed file. I tryed
to
expand it manually but I get error message saying The file is corrupt and
cannot be unpacked. Now how unlucky you have to be when 2 different XPx64
cd´s have same file corrupted???? Returning cd to dealer.

My system is Asus A8N-E, Athlon XP64 3000+, 2x Seagate SATA ST3200822AS
drives, 2x Samsung SATA HD16033,
Display Club3d G-Force 6600 PCI-E, Raid drivers NVidia SATA drivers
(newest), Forceware 6.66 CK804 (also new x64 only drivers).

I have checked memory with memory test and it came out clean. Partition C:
I
install XPx64 I have formatted before each attempt. I´ve tryed the printer
on other computer and it works just fine, and I´ve installed normal XP to
this computer and everything works as it should.

So only thinks I can think of is XPx64 doesn´t support my motherboard, or
my
motherboard drivers that where designed for XPx64 doesn´t work. I tryed
older mobo drivers that came with the motherboard and it didn´t help.

I think i´ll give up and install Linux, that atleast works :D

Do you have the installation disk that came with the printer?
Did you try to install it using the installation Wizard?
Did you connect this printer to your PC before installing the drivers?
Install the software first, during which you'll be prompted when to
connect it to your PC and also when to turn it on.

Hi!

I´m having problems installing printers to Oem version of WinXPx64.

When I try to install any printer I get message saying: "Operation could
not
completed. The print spooler service is not running.".
I have set the spooler to automatic and started it. When I press add a
printer I get a message again and spooler goes offline.
This is clean install and no previous printers so it has nothing to do
with
corrupt or wrong version printer drivers.
When I look into even logs I see following message :

####

Event Category: None

I´ve reinstalled Windows twice already and each time it does the same
thing.
When I press add printer it ends up shutting down the spooler.

When I tryed to install XP it said cannot copy localspl.dll. I skipped
that
file and tryed to expand it to system after windows was installed.
Expand
said the file is corrupt and cannot be expanded. Then I googled for
localspl
and copied found dll to system32. rebooted computer and tryed again but
the
spooler just doesn´t want to stay up.

I checked the file dependencies and all files spoolsv needs are
available
now, but the problem just stays within.
