You cannot add a Windows component in Windows XP
You can either:
1. Get the hotfix mentioned in the KB article and install it. Microsoft
usually waives any charges for support calls to get supported hotfixes
listed in Knowledge Base articles.
2. Try this procedure using the Esentutl.exe utility mentioned in the KB
article to recover from security database corruption:

Note that Microsoft does NOT recommend that you use the Esentutl.exe utility

I downloaded the fax service twice in add/remove and still does not
show "Fax Console". Without that I cannot configure to recieve faxe's.
Why doesn't it show up? All I see at the end of the menu..is Edit fax
cover and Send a fax
Thank you. The problem has been solved prior to reading your post..but
will check it out anyway. I was getting a message that a file was
needed....so I went to the i386 folder on my hd and saw it there...but
it did no good. So then I inserted my cd recovery disk and checked the
i386 folder there and it was accepted, and now I got Fax Console and am
able to recieve faxe's. Curious on what that web page you suggested has
to say about this.:)
