Re: Changing the ECP I/O Range for HP All-in-One

Hi... I contacted Dell on 7/28, allowed the technicial to access my
computer and he was not able to either modify nor enter the correct range for
the HP. The correct range is "0378-037F". The closest is the recommended
range of "0378-037B". But it's not correct. The other choices for settings
do not correspond to the correct range either. Do you have any work arounds?
Or any other suggestions? I have not heard from Dell since 7/28 when I was
told they would "get back to me".

Thanks for your help,
Alan

Cari... Thanks for your response. First about scanning devices, I have
the
exact same setup as before. The only change I made was to upgrade from
Win
98 to XP SP 2 in my Dell computer. With Win 98, my 2 printers and my
scanner
worked together and simultaneously; no error messages, no problems. By
two
scanning devices do you mean the Epson scanner, on USB, and the HP
All-in-One, on a parallel (LPT1)connection? According to HP tech support,
this isn't a problem.

However, according to HP the I/O range is a definite error. I have
contacted Dell tech support, via a chat session, and even after the
technician took over control of my computer, they were still not able to
correct the range. Final response was, "We'll get back to you" Help.

The I/O range setting for the LPT port is accessed through the BIOS of
your
PC.

How do I change the I/O range setting for the ECP Printer Port (LPT1)?
I
was
advised by HP tech support (via e-mail) to contact computer vendor (in
my
case, Dell) for instructions. Dell could not assist (thru chat with
their
tech support). Keep getting error message: "Communications Error:
Unable
to
communicate with your HP OfficeJet." However, printer seem to work OK.
Also,
receiving error messages whenever I use my Epson scanner (USB
connection),
but also seems to work OK after deleting error message.
