Download the latest firmware updates for your devices. Get WebJetAdmin to
flash the firmware and to assign the EX static addresses. I like to have a
Win2k machine around with DLC or IPX loaded on the same subnet (sometimes on
the same hub) to perform the updates.

I have several old JetDirect EX-Plus print servers that have served the
office I work in well for a number of years and still seem to have no
problems at all. The only real problem I ever had with them was trying to
get the software that came with them to work. Hours on the phone with HP
techs resulted in my simply using the DLC protocol in NT4 and W2K Server
to
set up the HP ports option in both OSs which works off of the print
servers'
MAC addresses. Since that option is no longer offered in W2K3 server I
need
to assign IP addresses to these old print servers but, not being much of a
hacker this is pretty much impossible for me. The last time I saw a CD
for
these print servers' software it was no longer compatible with the new
desktop OSs W2K Pro and XP Pro.
Since a huge amount of capabilities have been built in to these new
desktop
OSs since these JetDirects came out is there a way to configure these old
print servers without the old software? I really need to conserve my
spending as we've just bought a new server for W2K3 Server and several
other
big ticket items. I need to assign static IPs to them as well as turn off
the other languages to help quiet the network down.
Thanks in advance to anyone with ideas out there.
