Are these USB ports actually on the motherboard or on a hub?

Yes they have been uninstalled and reinstalled at least a dozen times.
I also have a camera that uses USB port, and a controler for games my
husband plays, both work fine.it is only a problem with printers!

I had gotten a lexmark 4270 a year ago .it installed just fine on XP
SP2, a
month later went to print with it and no printer was found . (just
disapeared). I uninstalled it and to this day I cant install a printer.
Lexmark says it is Emachines
and vice versagetting a brand new Lexmark but while I m waiting I go to

a CanoniP1500same thing with it.

can not find port. device may not work properly.
4 printers, 3 USB cables, software from disk and online, brand new hard
drive,and clean install of windows XP SP2.
