What is the content of the Event Log entry you see?
You can copy the content of Event Log entries into a post by:
Open Event Viewer
Double click on the Event Log entry of interest
Click the button that looks two overlapping printed pages (below the up and
down arrows near the top right). This copies the Event Log entry to the
Clipboard
right click in the post you are composing and select Paste

As to "why does HP ..." that's a very good question, but only HP can answer
that one!

Granting the Everyone group Full Control on the System32 folder defeats a
good part of the Windows XP systems ability to protect itself against
accidental damage. I think this is bad advice on the part of HP.

It is perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.
