If this dark background is there for all photos, including photos that you
can try to download from the Internet, you should be able to adjust this
from the front buttons of your computer display. Adjust brightness/contrast.

When I try to view my pictures the background is all dark and I can't see
anything else, but when I send them to other people they can see
everything.
